Manchester City have identified a £16.9m teenager as a potential replacement for Julian Alvarez.

Manchester City are  interested in 19-year-old Copenhagen striker Orri Oskarsson as a potential backup for Erling Haaland. With Julian Alvarez moving to Atletico Madrid and Liam Delap transferred to Ipswich Town, Haaland is currently the only recognized center-forward in City's squad. As a result, Bernardo Silva or Kevin De Bruyne might need to step into that role if Haaland gets injured.

To address this, City could explore the transfer market for a backup option before the window closes, and Oskarsson is said to be highly regarded by the club's decision-makers.

Oskarsson, who moved from Grotta to Copenhagen's youth academy in 2020, has made 60 appearances for the senior team, scoring 22 goals and providing nine assists. He had a standout 2023-24 season with 15 goals and eight assists in 41 matches and scored Copenhagen’s lone goal against Manchester City in their Champions League last-16 second-leg loss.

This season, the teenager has already netted six goals in 10 appearances and added two more in his first eight matches for Iceland. Despite recently extending his contract with Copenhagen until the summer of 2028, it is believed that a fee of €20m (£16.9m) could be sufficient to secure his transfer, with Manchester City keen on signing him.
