Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is set to face his previous team, Wolverhampton Wanderers, at the City Ground for a Premier League clash.
After drawing 1-1 with Bournemouth on the Premier League's opening weekend, Nottingham Forest secured their first three points with a 1-0 away win against Southampton last Saturday, thanks to Morgan Gibbs-White's second-half goal.
However, Forest were knocked out of the EFL Cup in the second round, losing 4-3 on penalties to Newcastle United on Wednesday after a 1-1 draw at home. Jota Silva's stunning volley equalized Joe Willock's early goal, but missed penalties by Ibrahim Sangare and Taiwo Awoniyi proved costly.
Despite this, Nuno Espirito Santo is focused on extending Forest's unbeaten Premier League run, aiming to replicate their strong start from the 1995-96 season when they finished ninth. Forest have struggled against Wolves recently, winning just one of their last 11 league encounters—a 2-0 victory at Molineux in January 2018.
Wolves, yet to earn a point this season after losses to Arsenal and Chelsea, suffered a heavy 6-2 defeat to Chelsea last weekend, with Noni Madueke scoring a 14-minute hat-trick. Since the start of the 2023-24 season, Wolves have the most defeats of any Premier League team not relegated last season. Despite losing their last five league games and conceding 18 goals, Wolves remain unbeaten in their last six away league matches against Forest, with three wins and three draws.
