Manchester City face Everton at home on Saturday,This is the 24th round of the Premier League, the first matchup
Man City are searching for an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title, but they aren’t having it all their way. The Citizens are currently two points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, albeit with a game in hand. They suffered a bit of a rocky patch with defeats to Wolves, Arsenal and Aston Villa, and dropped points again before Christmas in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace. But since that game, Man City have been perfect, winning their past four in the Premier League — taking confidence from being crowned world champions.
Everton, will be hoping for a shock result to aid their own safety hopes. The Toffees have won enough points to be 12th in the Premier League, winning eight games and drawing five this season. However, their 10-point deduction leaves Everton in the relegation zone, one point behind Luton. Sean Dyche’s side have been suffering of late, winless in their past six, but they secured a dramatic point against Tottenham last time out thanks to a very late Jarrad Branthwaite equaliser to make it three straight draws in the competition.
In a match with consequences at both ends of the table, Guardiola and Dyche should have few problems motivating their respective teams in their quest to claim maximum points, but there is no hiding the fact that Man City head into Saturday's contest as firm favourites.
Although the Citizens have been far from watertight defensively, they have been scoring goals for fun and considering that Haaland is back in the mix, the hosts boast the firepower required to outscore their opponents.
Prediction: Man City 3-1 Everton
