Copenhagen vs Man City: Champions League prediction
For the first time since 2011, FC Copenhagen are in the Champions League knockout rounds following an excellent group stage campaign. The Danish side finished second in their group with eight points from four matches, despite having to go up against Bayern Munich, Galatasaray and Manchester United; the latter two finishing below them. It was their final three games that’ll live longest in the memory, with home wins against Man Utd and Galatasaray coming either side of an incredible 0-0 draw away at Bayern Munich, propelling them into the top two.
But things only get more difficult here as Copenhagen prepare to face a Man City side that topped their group once again. Despite conceding seven goals, Pep Guardiola’s men have a 100% record in this season’s Champions League, recording two wins against each of RB Leipzig, Young Boys and Crvena zvezda so far. Even more dauntingly, City head into this match on a run of 11 wins and a draw in their last 12 matches across all competitions.
Already trying and failing twice to get the better of Copenhagen on their own territory, the third time should be the charm for a fully-fit Man City on Tuesday, especially with the hosts losing such an influential figure in Lerager.
The Parken atmosphere is an intimidating one for any visiting team to emerge to, but with Guardiola's men enjoying their customary winter-to-spring surge, a first-leg advantage should be theirs to take back to the Etihad.
