Group E competitors Romania and Ukraine will commence their Euro 2024 journeys in Munich.

Securing a top spot in Group I unbeaten, with six wins and four draws in 10 qualifiers, Romania's defensive strength was evident, conceding only five goals. Recent friendlies, aside from a 3-2 loss to Colombia, showed a solid defense, conceding just one goal in draws against Northern Ireland, Bulgaria, and Liechtenstein.

Drawn into a challenging Euro 2024 group with Belgium, Slovakia, and Ukraine, Romania believes they can progress, especially with several third-placed teams advancing. Under coach Edward Iordanescu, who took charge in 2022, Romania has improved significantly.

On the other hand, Ukraine, making their fourth consecutive Euro appearance, has struggled historically, losing eight of their 11 matches and failing to score in six of nine group games.

After finishing third in qualification behind England and Italy, Ukraine secured a playoff spot through their previous UEFA Nations League performance, narrowly overcoming Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland. Under manager Serhiy Rebrov, they hope to make a mark in the tournament.
