Germany vs Denmark in the Round of 16 will be a rematch of the 1992 European Cup final at the Dortmund Stadium
Germany:
Germany topped Group A with an unbeaten record of two wins and a draw. They started with a massive 5-1 win over Scotland, where five different players ended up finding the back of the net. Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz were the stars of the show, with some scintillating runs. The hosts followed it up with a 2-0 win over Hungary that confirmed progression to the knockout stage.
Musiala was once again on target, while Ilkay Gundogan also got himself on the scoreboard. The game against Switzerland was a test of their grit after conceding first in the 28th minute. Just when it looked like they could lose and qualify second in the group, Germany found a late goal through Niclas Fullkrug. They are now unbeaten in seven matches and full of confidence ahead of this game.
Denmark:
Denmark also remained unbeaten in their group phase, finishing second in Group C with three points. Their position was determined after they ended level with Slovenia on points, goals scored, and conceded, only separated by disciplinary points. The Danes started with a 1-1 draw against Slovenia, where they failed to take full advantage of a 17th-minute goal by Christian Eriksen.
In their second match, they fell behind to an early goal from Harry Kane for England. Yet there was enough from Denmark to storm back and draw 1-1. With their progression hinging around their last match, Denmark played out a 0-0 draw with Serbia, which was enough to send them through.
They are also in fine form ahead of this match here, remaining unbeaten in seven matches. In fact, going back to March 2023, Denmark have lost only one of their last 15 matches, winning nine and drawing five.
Prediction: Germany 2-0 Denmark
