Two teams searching for their first win of this Europa League campaign will face off at Boras Arena , as Elfsborg welcome Roma for their second group-stage match.

Following Daniele De Rossi's dramatic exit, Roma came close to securing a win in their Europa League opener last week, but ultimately had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Athletic Bilbao.

Artem Dovbyk justified his hefty transfer fee by opening the scoring, but the Giallorossi conceded a late equalizer, missing out on a full three points against their Basque opponents.

Despite this setback, Roma won both of their league matches surrounding that draw. New manager Ivan Juric has made an impressive start despite the challenging circumstances, with fan discontent rising after De Rossi's departure. After a commanding 3-0 win over early Serie A leaders Udinese, Roma mounted a late comeback against Venezia on Sunday, scoring twice in the last 20 minutes to secure a 3-2 victory. They now sit ninth in the table with nine points from six games.

Elfsborg, Thursday's hosts, do not have history on their side either, having lost four of their five games against Italian teams. However, they did manage a 1-0 victory over Lazio in a qualifier 15 years ago.

Back in European competition proper for the first time since their Europa League group-stage exit in 2013, Elfsborg face a daunting challenge this season. In addition to Roma, they will face the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Galatasaray, Nice, and Athletic Club.

In their opening match, head coach Oscar Hiljemark's team managed only three shots in a 3-2 defeat to AZ Alkmaar, although they made the most of their opportunities, with Timothy Ouma and Simon Hedlund combining for both goals.
