Feyenoord will entertain last season's runners-up, Roma, at De Kuip in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League knockout round playoffs on
In a repeat of the 2022 Uefa Europa Conference League final, Feyenoord and Roma prepare to lock horns, this time one step up in the Europe League. Last time, it was Roma who emerged victorious as a 32nd-minute Nicolo Zaniolo goal was enough to separate the two sides, making then-manager Jose Mourinho the first to lift all three major Uefa competitions.
However, Feyenoord head into this match on a strong run of form with six wins and two draws in their last eight games across all competitions, while they have kept four consecutive clean sheets. In the time since losing to Roma in that final, the Rotterdam giants have also lifted their 16th Eredivisie title.
As for Roma, they lost 4-2 to Serie A leaders Inter last time out, but only after a three-game winning streak that now sees them sit fifth in the table. In Europe, they’ve looked strong, losing just one of their six Europa League group games, though they did finish second to Slavia Prague.
Feyenoord are always a force to be reckoned with at De Kuip, while Roma often fall short on the road. As a result, the home side should make the most of their home advantage and take a slim lead with them to Rome next week.
