[EPL] Ipswich are struggling, while Chelsea have performed well on the road.
Ipswich Town pulled off a major surprise by earning promotion to the Premier League last season. However, despite notable reinforcements during the transfer window, the "Tractor Boys" are predictably fighting to avoid relegation. After 18 rounds, Ipswich sit in 19th place with 12 points. The battle for survival is far from over for Kieran McKenna's team, as they are only three points away from safety in 17th place.
On Boxing Day, Ipswich put up a valiant effort at the Emirates against Arsenal but ultimately lost 1-0, conceding late in the first half to Kai Havertz. Before that, Ipswich suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Newcastle and managed a 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton.
Chelsea have been a surprising story this season. Once seen as a meme-worthy club due to their bloated squad and questionable transfer dealings, the team has been revitalized under Italian manager Enzo Maresca. He has demonstrated that the significant investment by Chelsea’s American owners has not been in vain.
With 35 points, Chelsea occupy third place in the table, six points clear of fifth. Maresca has repeatedly emphasized that his team is not in the title race, but there’s little doubt they are fighting for a Champions League spot.
Chelsea’s recent results, however, have been underwhelming. In the previous round, the "Blues" suffered a shocking 2-1 home defeat to Fulham, drew 0-0 against Everton, and secured a 2-1 win over Brentford.
