Austria are a popular dark horse pick by many and Das Team should feel they have a real shot at making waves at this tournament. Under Rangnick’s guidance, Austria has had a wonderful past 18 months. They had a strong qualifying campaign which saw them finish second in their group, being edged out by Belgium by just a single point. In preparation for the Euros, Austria played out a 2-1 victory over Serbia which was followed up by a 1-1 draw with Switzerland. The results mean that Austria have lost just once in their last 16 matches, posting 12 victories and three draws during that time. The underdogs will also fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet as they have scored at least one goal in their last 17 consecutive matches.

France

A runner-up finish in this competition in Euro 2016 signaled the beginning of what many would consider a Golden Generation for France. They would go on to be crowned world champions in 2018 and were one win away from going back-to-back after finishing in second-place to Argentina in the 2022 World Cup. They are co-tournament favorites along with England to be crowned champions and it’s understandable as to why. Les Bleus boast a loaded squad and went unbeaten in qualifying with a 7-1-0 record. That included a massive 14-0 beatdown of Gibraltar to bring their goal differential to +26, the second highest mark in the qualifying stage. They come into this matchup off the back of a pair of friendlies, the first being a routine 3-0 win over Luxembourg which was followed up by a surprise 0-0 draw with Canada.
