Slovenia will face a strong Serbia team at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Thursday, and both teams are evenly matched and want to win this game.
Slovenia:
Slovenia caught the attention of many onlookers during qualifying as they secured their place at Euro 2024 with an impressive performance. In their ten qualifying matches, they posted a record of seven wins, one draw and two losses. That was the exact same record as Denmark, who won the group, though the former got the top spot due to the head-to-head record. Slovenia then met the Danes in their opening match of the competition and there was nothing to split them as the game ended 1-1.
On the day, Denmark dictated play but Slovenia have shown in recent times that they are comfortable playing on the counter-attack and did so very well in game one. They only had 32% of possession and were restricted to two shots on goal but managed to find the net in the 77th minute thanks to Erik Janza. The side is now unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions.
Serbia:
Meanwhile, Serbia also enjoyed a solid qualifying campaign, finishing second behind Hungary. They managed a record of four wins, two draws and two losses in eight qualifying games to hold off the likes of Montenegro, Lithuania and Bulgaria. Since then, though, the Eagles have been in mixed form. They played four international friendlies across March and earlier this month, splitting the results with two wins and two losses. The victories came against Cyprus and Sweden, while they lost to Russia and Austria.
Serbia’s opening match of Euro 2024 was against the heavily-fancied England, which they lost 1-0. However, they were by no means outplayed by the Three Lions, managing 46% possession while they registered more shots at goal than their opponents. Serbia are unbeaten in their last two matches against this opponent and are the favourites at the books in this one.
