Reigning champions Inter Milan will meet surprising contenders Torino at San Siro, with both teams locked on 11 points in the Serie A table.

After a three-match winless streak, Inter Milan bounced back with a 3-2 victory over Udinese last week and built on that momentum with a commanding 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on Tuesday. Following a late defeat to AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina, captain Lautaro Martinez broke a five-game goal drought to secure the win in Udine and then came off the bench to score against the Serbian champions.

Inter is currently unbeaten in their last 10 home matches in the Champions League, marking their best run since winning the final against Bayern Munich in 2010. However, they still find themselves trailing Serie A leaders Napoli in the domestic league. 

Vanoli, who played a role in Inter's 2021 Scudetto victory as an assistant, now manages Torino after successfully leading Venezia to promotion last season. Under his leadership, Torino has won three of their first six Serie A matches and is looking to achieve four wins from seven for the first time since 2015.

A recent 3-2 away victory over Hellas Verona briefly saw Torino at the top of the table, showcasing a strong start to Vanoli's tenure in Turin. However, their cup exit to Empoli and a subsequent home defeat in the league dampened the momentum. Last weekend, after trailing 2-0 to Lazio, Che Adams managed to pull one back, but Lazio quickly restored their lead, rendering Saul Coco's stoppage-time goal a mere consolation.
