Marseille aims to recover from a tough away loss last weekend as they host bottom-ranked Angers at Stade Velodrome.

After a thrilling 3-2 victory over Lyon the previous week, Marseille faced a stark reality check on Sunday. Despite having played with 10 men for 85 minutes, Roberto De Zerbi's side couldn't break down Strasbourg, suffering a 1-0 defeat in Alsace. 

This loss ended OM's impressive unbeaten start, which had seen them collect 13 points from 15, placing them level with Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco at the top. However, both rivals secured wins over the weekend, creating some distance, though Marseille still remains in the top three ahead of this matchday and has the talent to potentially level points again.

Returning to Ligue 2, Angers appears unchanged from their disappointing relegation season of 2022-23, when they finished with only 18 points. This season, they've managed just two points from their first six matches, having lost their opening three before earning draws against Strasbourg and Nantes. Their performance at home against Reims was dismal, resulting in a 3-1 defeat.

Despite being heavy favorites for relegation again, Angers recently extended manager Alexandre Dujeux's contract until 2026, likely due to his past achievements and the belief that he can help the team recover if they do drop back to Ligue 2.
