Manchester United aims to break a five-match winless streak in all competitions as they host Brentford at Old Trafford for a Premier League clash.

Erik ten Hag remains in charge of Manchester United despite overseeing the club's worst-ever start to a Premier League season, with only eight points and two wins from their first seven matches. Following a seven-hour executive meeting that included Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glazer, the club has chosen to keep quiet about Ten Hag's future. 

Currently sitting 14th in the league and 10 points behind leaders Liverpool, Ten Hag faces pressure to quickly improve the team's fortunes. Since a 7-0 EFL Cup win over Barnsley in mid-September, United has not won any of their last five matches, drawing four, including a goalless result at Aston Villa just before the international break.

At Old Trafford, there’s some optimism as United has won their last five home league games against Brentford, with a combined score of 13-2, and they haven't lost to the Bees at home since 1937. Meanwhile, Brentford has made a habit of scoring the opening goal within 80 seconds in their last four matches. Although they failed to secure wins against Manchester City, Tottenham, or West Ham after scoring first, they did triumph 5-3 against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Sitting 11th in the table with all 10 points earned at home, Brentford aims to avoid a fourth straight away loss, a feat not seen since the 1961-62 season when they lost their first nine matches as a third-tier team.
